Mission Statement
At Camp Pride FL, our mission is to empower LGBTQ+ youth and allies
through the transformative power of the arts, theatre, and interfaith
community. We believe that creative expression and spiritual exploration
are essential tools for self-discovery, healing, and building a strong,
inclusive community. Our camp provides a safe space where campers can
explore their identities, connect with their inner selves, and express their
stories through the performing arts, visual arts, and spiritual practices.
We encourage campers to embrace their uniqueness, find their voice, and
nurture their spirit through workshops, artistic projects, performances, and
reflective moments of connection. By fostering a supportive environment
that honors both creativity and spiritual growth, we inspire campers to be
brave, authentic, and unapologetically themselves while building lasting
friendships and deepening their sense of purpose both on and off the stage.
The arts component of Camp Pride FL offers a dynamic space for LGBTQ+ youth to express
themselves through various creative outlets, including visual arts, music, and dance. Our arts
workshops are designed to encourage self-discovery and healing, allowing campers to explore
their emotions, identities, and stories through different mediums. Whether it’s painting, sculpting,
or creating mixed-media projects, the arts provide a safe and inclusive environment for self-
expression and personal growth. Each camper is supported in their artistic journey, empowering
them to communicate their unique perspectives and experiences.
ARTS
The theatre component at Camp Pride FL invites campers to step into the world of performance
and storytelling. Through acting, improvisation, and stagecraft, LGBTQ+ youth can explore their
voices, challenge their comfort zones, and connect with others in a collaborative setting. Theatre
workshops focus on building confidence, enhancing communication, and encouraging self-
expression. Whether it’s through solo performances, ensemble pieces, or script writing, campers
are given the space to share their narratives and express their creativity in a supportive, inclusive,
and empowering environment.
theatre
The interfaith component of Camp Pride FL embraces the diversity of beliefs and traditions,
welcoming people from all walks of life and faith backgrounds. Whether participants come with
deep-rooted spiritual beliefs or no faith at all, the focus remains on love, healing, and building a
strong, inclusive community. Through shared stories and experiences, we create a space where
faith and no faith meet, fostering understanding, respect, and personal exploration. Our LGBTQ+
youth are encouraged to explore their identities and beliefs in a safe and supportive environment,
where they are free to be themselves and find connection, acceptance, and growth.

Can campers have their cell phone at camp?
Disconnecting from the world of electronics is a necessary part of creating the camp community. Youth Campers are allowed to bring their cellphones. Phones will be
collected at the 1st Cabin Meeting by your Counselors and put in a safety lock box daily. There is a no phone policy for the first 36 hours at camp. Campers will
receive phones on Sunday morning. Accommodations can be made with Parental/Guardian consent. Cellphones must be set on vibrate or silent.
Staff are requested to leave cell phones and other electronic devices turned off or silent during all camp activities. Cellular phones may, however, be used when the
staff has personal time away from the camp activities and in the evening after the campers are in bed.
Our emergency contact is (407) 600-9066. A staff member will be available 24 hours a day for the duration of the camp program.
Can campers bring a personal music device to camp?
Policy on Music Devices
Campers, may bring listening devices to camp to help them fall asleep if the following conditions are met.
The device:
- is not internet capable
- is not also a cell phone, electronic communication, or gaming device
- is not used at any time other than when lying down on one’s bunk, at either bunk or bed time
- does not leave the cabin (except for approved, program specific, events)
- is used with headphones or earbuds so that others cannot hear the music
- is turned off at the counselor’s request
Counselors may choose to keep listening devices in their possession and distribute them before bed or bunk time. Any listening device can be confiscated if used
outside these guidelines, or guidelines established by the dean. Any confiscated device will be returned when the camper is signed-out the final day of the session.
May we visit our camper during the week?
Parents, family members and friends of campers are encouraged to visit during registration and departure only. At other times campers will be fully occupied and
friends are asked to please refrain from visiting or calling by telephone.
Should we send emails?
YES! Campers love to receive email. Virtual cards and letters are encouraged. You can email hello@camppridefl.org. Your camper’s email will be printed and
delivered at bunk time. Campers will not be able to reply to emails.
Is there a camp store?
Yes. The store carries T-shirts, memorabilia, and various necessary items. Store accounts for children are set up on arrival. Usually $20 or so is enough for everyday
sundries. Any remaining funds are returned when the camper is picked up. The store account is also where the camper will draw money for any donation to CPFL they
wish to make.
What if my camper has allergies or special dietary needs?
If your camper has allergies or dietary needs, please let us know during the registration process. Upon arrival, be sure to review their medical information with the
Camp Nurse to ensure all necessary precautions are in place and medication schedules followed.
What if campers get homesick?
Very few campers need to go home. Usually extra attention from the counselor and cheerful letters from home are all it takes to help an uneasy child. Parents
concerned that their child may become homesick can do some things to help the child prepare for camp. Coming to camp with a friend is another good idea
(although we do not house friends in the same cabin).
Can campers stay in the same cabin with friends from home?
No. This is a common request. We do not house friends together, nor do we grant requests for campers to be together. Our experience is that friends from home tend
to relate together instead of getting to know new cabin mates. We hope you will make new friends in your cabin. Cabin time is limited and there is ample time for
friends to be together during camp.
What about camp photos?
Every camper will receive an 8×10 photo of all the people in their camp. Many more are available to purchase digitally, which can be pre-ordered at the store when
you drop off your camper or ordered on Saturday at pick up.
What if a camper has particular accommodation needs?
CPFL/Camp Grounds is an accessible site with paths, and ramps throughout the majority of the sites’ facilities. However, we are a naturally wooded environment and
some of the terrain may be difficult for those with mobility issues. We do have a golf cart to provide individuals needing assistance with access to some of the more
difficult-to-access locations. Please let us know ahead of time if you, or your camper, require specific accommodations or mobility assistance, so we can be sure to
have an appropriate plan in place. Call the camp office at (407) 600-9066.
There is access to the pool & waterfront area for those needing mobility assistance. We do have a golf cart to provide individuals needing assistance with access to
some of the more difficult-to-access locations, such as: the cookout field, both ball fields, community hall, labyrinth, and dining hall. In addition, we do have cabins
with ramps and handicap accessible showers for those who need them.
NOTE*** If you require additional assistance with verbal or sign language interpretation, vision, social interaction, mobility or fine motor skills, medical or other
personal situations, we ask that you attend with an “aide” to provide the extra care you need.
We recommend the aide be a parent/guardian or individual with a personal relationship and knowledge of the campers’ situation. The aide could participate in
camp activities on a similar level to a counselor, but their main focus and priority would be to ensure the camper has the assistance and support they require to have
the best experience possible at their camp session.
For adult camps, we recommend the aide be a friend or relative with a personal relationship and knowledge of the campers’ situation and the ability to provide the
additional assistance required. The aide would be a camper registered for the session, and could fully participate in camp activities, maintaining the priority of
ensuring the camper has the assistance and support they require to have the best experience possible at their camp session. Both individuals would be housed
together, with the potential of sharing a cabin with other campers as well.
What should we bring?
Pay attention to your Director’s letter for specific items they request.
What should we NOT bring?
Candy; gum; food; personal listening devices; pets; pocket knives; valuables; jewelry; cell phones; computers; other electronic devices; and, of course, weapons;
fireworks; alcohol; or illegal drugs.
May campers call home?
Phones are available for use by campers only in case of emergency.
Please call (407) 600-9066 if you need to reach your camper during the week.

- Shelter: We have designated safe locations for severe weather events, such as storms or high winds, and will immediately guide campers to these areas if needed.
- Communication: In the event of an emergency, we will promptly notify parents and guardians with updates through email, text, or phone, depending on the

What safety measures are in place at camp?
At camp, we take safety very seriously and have several measures in place to ensure a secure environment for all campers. Here’s an overview of our safety protocols:
- Trained Staff: Our camp staff undergo comprehensive training in safety procedures, including first aid, CPR, and emergency response. Background checks are
conducted for all staff members. - Medical Support: A licensed nurse is on-site to handle health-related concerns, administer medications, and provide first aid as needed.
- Emergency Preparedness: We have protocols for various emergencies, including severe weather, fire, and evacuation plans. Regular drills are conducted to
familiarize campers and staff with emergency procedures. - Supervision: Campers are supervised at all times during activities, with staff-to-camper ratios that allow for close monitoring. We also enforce strict check-in and
check-out procedures to ensure camper security. - Food Safety and Allergy Awareness: Our kitchen staff is trained to handle dietary restrictions and prevent cross-contamination for campers with allergies.
- Activity Safety: All camp activities are supervised by trained staff members, and equipment is regularly inspected to ensure it meets safety standards.
- Visitor Policy: Only approved visitors are allowed on campgrounds, and they must sign in and out at designated points. This helps us maintain a secure environment
for all campers.
Our safety measures are designed to provide parents with peace of mind and ensure campers have a fun, secure experience at camp.
Our cancellation and refund policy is as follows:
Cancellations by December 15th, 2024: If you cancel your camper’s registration by this date, a 50% refund will be provided. This partial refund reflects costs already
incurred for lodging, food, and programming.
Cancellations after December 15th, 2024: Unfortunately, no refunds will be given after this date due to pre-paid expenses. However, if your camper cannot attend,
we offer the option to transfer their registration to the next camp session.
